Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino just wrapped up his weekly Monday news conference, and here are a few tidbits from what he and several players said:
Petrino said wide receiver Marques Wade will miss the remainder of the season after tearing a knee ligament in last Saturday’s 49-14 loss to No. 8 Alabama. Wade is scheduled to have surgery this week.
Wade was suspended for the first two games because of a DWI arrest over the summer, and he was unable to finish his first game back after injuring his knee on a special teams play against the Crimson Tide.
Meanwhile, Petrino said wide receiver Lucas Miller suffered a concussion in last Saturday’s loss, and his status for this weekend’s game at No. 7 Texas depends on how quickly he can get over the effects from the concussion.
Freshman quarterback Tyler Wilson will get more reps with the No. 2 offense this week, Petrino said. There was talk early on that Wilson could redshirt this season, but Petrino decided to play him instead because he had outperformed redshirt freshman Nathan Dick in practice. Wilson is also “explosive” out of the Shotgun.
Wilson replaced starter Casey Dick in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s loss to Alabama, and he completed 4-of-7 passes for 27 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
That’s it for now. Back to writing…
