Bad First Half, Close Score

As odd as this might sound, Arkansas’ players should be pleased despite going into the locker room following perhaps their sloppiest first half of the season. Why? Because they’re trailing only 31-27 to No. 7 Texas in Bud Walton Arena.

It could be a lot worse.

Arkansas guard Courtney Fortson looked erratic in the first half, committing five turnovers and missing both of his shot attempts. His poor decisions and quick turnovers resulted in him getting benched, and he has scored only five points in 11 minutes.

Guard Stefan Welsh, who has filled in for Forston at point guard, leads Arkansas with eight points on 4-of-11 shooting.

The Razorbacks have struggled from the floor, hitting only 10-of-34 shots for 29.4 percent. Fortunately for them, Texas is only slightly better at 31.4 percent (11-of-35 shooting). Both teams have yet to find their 3-point shooting, with Arkansas 1-for-11 and Texas 0-for-9 from behind the arc.

The second half is about to start.
