Richardson Coming to BWA Soon?

I got a chance to talk to Nolan Richardson for a few minutes yesterday.

Most of our 15-minute conversation was about the presidential inauguration, which was the subject of the column I wrote for this morning’s paper. But I did get in a couple other questions about the Razorbacks latest struggles and his return to Bud Walton Arena.

We know Richardson and the national championship team will be honored before the final home game in early March. But I remembered Richardson saying he also had hoped to attend other games this year. So far, he hasn’t been spotted in the arena. He might be soon, though, so we’re going to have to start to keep our eyes peeled.

“I was going to try to get to one,” Richardson said. “I’m not sure which one, but I’m going to try to get one or two of them hopefully before we get there (for the champoinship celebration).”

As for Arkansas’ 0-3 start, Richardson said he feels for the team and for coach John Pelphrey. Richardson said it’s not easy for a young team to rebound from the type of struggles they’re experiencing, but believes it will happen over time.

“I’m really pulling for John,” Richardson said. “I feel he’ll get it turned around. Just keep plugging away.”
