It appears that Saturday’s game against South Carolina is shaping up as a matchup between sick coaches.
South Carolina coach Darrin Horn wasn’t on the SEC Teleconference this morning because of a stomach bug that has affected him the past couple of days. Horn still coached the team at Mississippi State last night, but assistant Scott Cherry filled in for him this morning.
“It was something that hit one of our assisstant coaches earlier in the season and it jumped on him yesterday morning,” Cherry said a couple of minutes ago. “He was battling all day yesterday and still battling. It’s one of those virus’ that’s difficult to get rid of.â€
John Pelphrey was fighting through a case of bronchitis during Arkansas’ loss to LSU last night. Assistant coach Tom Ostrom filled in for him during postgame interviews last night. Assistant coach Rob Evans filled in on the teleconference this morning and will do the same at Arkansas’ press conference later on today.
“He’s still under the weather,” Evans said. “He had a doctor’s appointment today at 9. He’s still at the doctor’s office right now. He really hasn’t been feeling very well last three or four days. He’s really under the weather.
“We’ve been staying as far away from him as we can. He’s been staying away from the team as much as he can too.â€
I guess it’s just that time of year. Hopefully I don’t catch anything!
