Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn has never been afraid of putting his team up against tough competition. Van Horn also hasn’t been shy about sending his team out on the road to play some of those tougher foes. And at the monthly Swatter’s Club meeting, held Monday at the Clarion Inn in Fayetteville, Van Horn announced future plans to continue to strong scheduling on the road.
Van Horn told the full house crowd that Arkansas has plans to visit Berkley, Cal., to play the University of California during the third week of the 2010 season. Then in 2011, Van Horn and the Diamond Hogs will play in a four-day, four-game tournament in San Diego. The tournament, hosted by San Diego State University — who happens to be coached by former Padre Tony Gwynn — also has a chance of being played at Petco Park, home of the Padres.
