Ole Miss 98, Arkansas 91 (Final – Overtime)

We had some Internet issues in the second half. Sorry there were no updates. But if you’re an Arkansas fan, you’re not happy about what happened. The Razorbacks, who led by as many as 12, had no answer for Terrico White (29 points), Zach Graham (20 points) and Will Bogan (16 points) in the second half. The trio of guards each scored career highs to lead the Rebels to a win.

Ole Miss shot 63.3 percent in the second half (19 of 30) and 52.5 percent (32 of 61) in the game. Particularly troubling were three wide open dunks/layups the Rebels got down the stretch because of problems with Arkansas’ defense. Despite the porous defense, Arkansas still had a chance to win the game in regulation but guard Stefan Welsh just missed an open 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Rebels dominated overtime opening up a nice cushion and holding on.

Arkansas’ loss — coupled with Georgia’s surprising win against Kentucky tonight — drops the Razorbacks back into sole possession of last place in the SEC standings (2-13). Getting a third win doesn’t look likely, either. Arkansas closes the regular season by traveling to Vanderbilt, which just beat SEC regular season champion LSU, on Sunday afternoon.

Arkansas 44, Ole Miss 35 at Halftime

Ole Miss went on a 7-0 spurt late in the half to pull to within 38-35, but the Razorbacks got two big 3-pointers to close the half with a comfortable lead. Courtney Fortson knocked down the first jumper and Clarke added his fourth on the next possession.

The Razorbacks went 8-for-15 behind the 3-point line in the first half. It has been the difference in the game so far.

Clarke leads Arkansas with 14 points, while Michael Sanchez and Michael Washington have seven apiece. Ole Miss is led by Zach Graham’s 9 points and point guard Will Bogam has a surprising 7. The Rebels are shooting 40.7 percent (11 of 27) from the field.

Arkansas 38, Ole Miss 28 with 3:53 left

The past four minutes have been pretty ugly. Arkansas is missing shots. Ole Miss is missing shots. Both teams are fouling each other.

The Rebels have taken 15 free throws in the first half, which is a high number. Arkansas has attempted 10.

The Razorbacks have been forced to use a small lineup because Michael Sanchez now has two personal fouls. So Britt, Fortson, Welsh, Henry and Andre Clark are on the floor.

Arkansas 31, Ole Miss 23 with 7:48 left

The Razorbacks are winning this game with their 3-point shooting. Arkansas is 6-for-11 behind the line in the first half. As mentioned below, Rotnei Clarke is leading the way. He has made three, 3-pointers in the first half and has a game-high 11 points.

Overall, Arkansas is shooting 61.1 percent from the field and Ole Miss is at 47.1 percent.

Washington continues to sit on Arkansas’ bench and Ole Miss has been able to hit the offensive boards pretty hard without him.

Arkansas 24, Ole Miss 16 with 10:05 left

Well, Michael Washington couldn’t last long. He picked up his second foul at the 13-minute mark and has gone to the bench. Arkansas led 20-8 at the time, but Ole Miss has cut into it a little bit the past few minutes. It’s clear Ole Miss is hoping to use its size and length against the much smaller Razorbacks so far in this game. It’s helped them on the glass, but Arkansas has been doing a good job on the other end.

Rotnei Clarke leads the Razorbacks with eight points right now. He has knocked down 3-of-4 shots and 2-of-3 behind the 3-point line.

Arkansas 15, Ole Miss 8 with 15:12 left

It has been quite the productive start for Michael Washington and the Razorbacks. The forward has seven points at the 15:12 mark. He has a dunk, a 3-pointer, a blocked shot and an assist to lead Arkansas to a quick start.

The Razorbacks have knocked down three, 3-pointers so far. Washington, Rotnei Clarke and Marcus Britt each have a long-range jumper.

Pregame

A couple of pregame notes:

• Arkansas will continue to start Marcus Britt over Stefan Welsh. Britt will start along with Courtney Fortson, Rotnei Clarke, Michael Sanchez and Michael Washington.

• It seems Ole Miss will have a new lineup, too. David Huertas and Murphy Holloway are not starting for the Rebels. It doesn’t appear that Huertas will be playing in this game. He hasn’t been warming up and has a boot on his right foot. That’s a big blow for Ole Miss considering Huertas is the team’s leading scorer (18.5 points).
