Matt Jones Released?

Some pretty big news on the NFL front this morning.

It appears that former Arkansas quarterback Matt Jones has been released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If true, the move comes two days after Jones was released from his five-night stay in jail. Jones was there after being sentenced by Washington County Circuit Court Judge Mary Ann Gunn for failing a alcohol test. Jones admitted he had some drinks with buddies on the golf course. It’s a decision that I just happened to write about for this morning’s paper.

But Ignore the fact I said Jones would get another chance with the Jags. Oops. Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

This will end Jones’ up-and-down stint with the team, which drafted him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Now he will be out on the open market now and we’re pretty sure someone will give him a job. This is the NFL after all.

My guess? Jerry Jones will come calling even though the Dallas Cowboys have been cutting ties with “problems” this offseason.
