I just spoke with Gary Crain, public information officer for the University of Arkansas Police Department, about what led to the arrest of linebacker Khiry Battle.
According to a police report, a UAPD officer responded to an argument in a campus parking lot on Maple Street and Garland Avenue. When the officer ran a check on Battle, who was arguing with another student, it came back that the sophomore had a warrant for his arrest.
Turns out, Battle had a careless driving ticket that he had never taken care of. That led to his arrest at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday on a failure to appear charge. He was released early Thursday morning after posting a $630 bond.
Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino isn’t expected to issue a comment on Battle’s arrest.
