It’s June, which means all is relatively quiet in the world of Arkansas football. But there is a little bit of information to pass along involving the Razorbacks.
The Dallas Morning News obtained copies of the contracts for the college football games that will be held at the new Cowboys Stadium, including Arkansas’ annual series with Texas A&M that’s been dubbed the Southwest Classic.
Here are some of the contract highlights, according to The Morning News (the other one, of course):
-The stadium rental fee for the Arkansas-Texas A&M game on Oct. 3 is $100.
-The two teams will get the revenue from ticket sales, team-specific merchandise sales and game-specific sponsorship deals
-Arkansas and Texas A&M will evenly split the free use of 16 suites inside the stadium.
-Cowboys Stadium, L.P., which is controlled by Cowboys owner and Arkansas alum Jerry Jones, will staff and manage the games at no cost to either the Razorbacks or Aggies.
Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long announced last year that he had finalized a 10-year deal to play Texas A&M in Dallas, with each school expected to net $4 to $5 million a year from the game. The contract runs through 2018, but the two schools have the option of extending the series beyond that.
Tickets for the first Southwest Classic went on sale to the general public in March, ranging from $50 for an Arkansas student to $300 for club seats. The Razorbacks have been given an allotment of approximately 34,500 tickets for the game.
