Arkansas’ baseball season may be over, but first baseman Andy Wilkins’ year isn’t done.
Wilkins has been trying out for the USA national team since the CWS ended last Friday.
According to the USA Baseball Web site, Wilkins is one of 36 players trying to make the team’s 22-man roster. Other recognizable names include Tyler Holt (FSU), Drew Pomeranz (Ole Miss), Preston Tucker (Florida), Ross Wilson (Alabama) and Blake Forsythe (Tennessee).
The team will be announced tomorrow.
The USA national team, which is made up of collegiate players, will play several games throughout the summer. That includes the USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship in Japan next month. And the World Baseball Challenge in British Columbia.
If Wilkins doesn’t make the USA roster, Arkansas says he will play in the Cape Cod League this summer.
