Report: Broderick Green To Be Cleared To Play

So, Thursday turned out to be a busy day for July and today could be another day chalked full of news.

For starters, FOX16 in Little Rock is reporting that a reliable source has told the TV station that Arkansas running back Broderick Green has been “given good word that he will indeed be given the green light to play this upcoming season.”

The report on FOX16’s Web site added that Green, who has petitioned the NCAA to be eligible to play immediately after transferring from USC, is still awaiting final confirmation on his status from the NCAA. But the source, according to the TV station, said an announcement on Green’s eligibility could come next week.

Of course, I’ll check into this report and post what I find out.

Later today, the media will be allowed to watch some of Arkansas’ offensive and defensive players take part in the team’s offseason workout program. We’ll get a chance to speak with players and Arkansas strength and conditioning coach Jason Veltkamp (which is always entertaining because of his dry, dark sense of humor – like a drill sergeant.)

So today could be just as busy as yesterday. In case you missed what happened a day ago, here is Ryan Malashock’s report on Arkansas guard Stefan Welsh being suspended from the basketball team and my story on Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long and men’s golf coach Brad McMakin getting contract extensions.
