Hey, remember what it was like when Arkansas welcomed Gus Malzahn home for the Tulsa game this year?
Well, the Razorbacks will get to do it again next fall.
Malzahn, the former Springdale High coach, Arkansas offensive coordinator and Tulsa co-offensive coordinator has accepted a position on Auburn coach Gene Chizik’s staff. It means the Tigers will continue to run the spread after the failed experiment under Tommy Tuberville last season.Word started spreading today and has become official. Read a story about it here.
It will certainly make things much more interesting in the SEC for Arkansas next season. Now the Razorbacks will face Houston Nutt and Malzahn every season. And then there’s this: Nutt and Malzahn will go head-to-head as well. You have to wonder what it means for Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino’s efforts to lock up all the in-state players for the Razorbacks. Clearly, Malzahn will still have some influence here.
Malzahn is slated to join the team after Tulsa plays in its bowl game this week.
